Looking for top notch games in the bargain bin...

I have a pretty decent job. I make a comfortable living, not rich but not poor either. I can afford to indulge my gaming vices and get pretty much anything that interests me. What I've found recently though is that while I enjoy playing the top new releases, it's sometimes the slightly older cheap games that can be just as fun.

Back late last year when the bonanza of Crysis, Call of Duty 4, Enemy Territory Quake Wars and The Orange Box came out, I quickly jumped on every single one of them and I can say they were worth every penny I paid. It's kind of frustrating though to me that maybe I could have just waited a while and not dropped $50 a piece on those and maybe just enjoyed them later when the prices dropped. I have no regrets though, those games were well designed and especially the Orange Box with Portal and ET:QW were the two I most enjoyed playing. So that brings me to Feb 2k8 and I just happened to be browsing the bargain titles at Circuit City.com

There are literally so many games that are released each and every year that sometimes great games fall through the cracks and get lost in the big $50 releases that I see advertised. Anyhow, I looked through the list of games and found 5 interesting titles, all of which were less than $10 and really most of them were around $5.

Here's what I picked out:

S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow of Chernoblyl

Sin Episodes Episode 1

Driv3r

Crime Life - Gang Wars

Indigo Prophecy

The only one I've played so far is S.T.A.L.K.E.R and so far so good with that. I've heard a lot about that title from reading PC Gamer and I think that was one of the big titles that was at one of the gaming shows like E3 not that long ago. Anyhow, so far I'm enjoying this shooter which does have multiplayer. Haven't tried that yet, but I'll keep you posted!

It'll probably be a while before I spend any more $$ on games but at least now I've got some real variety to play around with and I'm sure I'll enjoy most of them!
